I Never Knew
You’d think that with as ancient as I am, there would be very little that I don’t know. But I found yet another thing on Saturday morning that I didn’t know…rabbits scream. Yes indeed, they do. I got up at 6:00 a.m. to use the facilities and of course my dogs decide that they need to as well. So I open the back door to let them out and they take off like a shot to the back of the yard. Then it’s up the fence, then back down the fence, then I hear the scream. Almost sounded like a human child. I was thinking, “oh no, what did they catch”. Then they come trotting (prancing, perhaps?) up toward the house, one of them holding a live rabbit in her mouth. I told her to drop it (which, surprisingly, she did) and it expired a moment later. I had never heard a rabbit scream before, and if I never hear another one, that’ll be just fine by me.
The End
Weird News
Here’s a strange story. After 54 years of teaching Sunday School, a teacher is dismissed for being female. The story can be seen here.
A Little Hacked Off
For those who aren’t aware of it, I play video games – a lot. I belong to a guild in an online game called Guild Wars. We have our own website with a forum on it. Lots of fun, yada yada yada.
Anyway, on to the point. Yesterday, one of my guildmates made a post about being able to send a greeting card to our soldiers to show your support through this web site. Well, after a couple people thanked the poster for posting said link, another guildmate, who doesn’t live in the USA said something like, “how can you people support killers?”. Well that got it started. A few people got angry, but held their tongues (or fingers, in this case) but one defended their position. The reply was very inflamatory and got a few of us extremely upset. Long story short, the post was deleted, flamer was warned cooler heads eventually prevailed. Now here’s the tricky part. Why is it that we get so uptight when someone else’s opinion isn’t the same as ours? And why is it that sometimes we don’t care that it’s different, while other times we get incredibly angry about it? This one I know is because our kids are out there defending our country so WE can be free. We have a responsibility to defend our soldiers against the comments being made against them. We don’t have to support the war, regardless of which one, but we should always support our troops!
Yep, this is written in typical rambling fashion, but I’m not a writer. I’m just a hacked off American.
Numerically Speaking
When did we switch from Arithmetic (The mathematics of integers, rational numbers, real numbers, or complex numbers under addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), to Mathematics ( The study of the measurement, properties, and relationships of quantities and sets, using numbers and symbols)? And why? Inquiring minds want to know.

Force
Wow, it’s been almost a week since my last post. Oh well…that’s the way it goes. This week was kind of strange. I’ve been forced to be patient, forced to be outgoing and forced to be humble. I’m not sure that “forced” is the word I really want, but it fits, so I’m going to use it. I’m not going into details on most of it, because it’s boring and somewhat personal, but let’s just say that God was very active in my life this week (or was I just more receptive?) and I think I liked it.
Oh yeah…I was forced to be thankful, too.
On a side note, I saw a specialist for my stomach and I think I’m finally on the road to recovery with that, too. God is good!
Another Season Over
Well, softball season is officially over for me. I’m always sad about that. Not because I’ll miss the game, even though I will, but I’ll miss hanging out with a great bunch of guys every week. We have a ton of fun…win, lose or draw.
We didn’t fare to well in the tournament, being eliminated after only 3 games, but we did have a lot of fun. And I think we played well, too. I was disappointed in my own playing, but I had a band of brothers who absolutely refused to let me get down on myself. Special thanks to E.K., who was working extra hard at that.
So, it’s time to put away the cleats and polish up the bowling ball. Until next season, farewell softball.
On a not-so-pleasant note, here is a quote from Michelle’s blog regarding the Ridgeway coach:
Our coach that got hit while coaching third base did end up having two fractures in his jaw. He will be seeing a specialist this week. Keep him in all of our prayers please.
Flying Elk?
Yep, it’s true. Check out Russell’s blog and join in the fun!!
