Bowling Report 2/21/2007

February 22, 2007 at 8:41 am (Bowling)

I don’t keep records very well. We won the first game and lost the last 2. I didn’t bowl very well (what a surprise, huh?). The Pudgeman bowled pretty well, I think, except for the second game. But none of us were overpowering in that game. But the highlight of the evening was the presence of The Pudgeman’s wife. I don’t think she’d appreciate being called “Mrs. Pudge”, so let’s just call her the Divine Mrs. M. Hmmm…that’s sounds too much like Bette Midler. So anyway, Rachel was there and I really had a nice time talking to her. She and I had never really had a conversation to speak of, so it was nice to finally get to talk to her. And she was sewing some sweater, or socks, or underwear or something. I think it was for The Pudgeman.

Peace

ICE

February 20, 2007 at 9:07 am (Uncategorized)

I got this in my email this morning. I thought it was a good idea. I’m sure many of you have heard of it before, but I’m always a day late and a dollar short, so I’m sharing it anyway.

Isn’t it true that we all carry our mobile phones with hundreds of
names/numbers stored in its memory but yet nobody, other than
ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones?

Let us for a moment create a scenario wherein (God forbid):

We are involved in an accident or had a heart attack and the
people attending us get hold of our mobile phone but don’t know which
number to call to inform our family members.

Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact
person in case of an emergency?

For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers stored
under the name ICE (In case of Emergency) in our mobile phones.

Read below for more details……

Recently, the concept of “ICE” is catching up quickly. It is simple,
an important method of contact during emergency situations.

As cell phones are carried by majority of the population, all you need
to do is store the number of a contact person or person who should be
contacted at during emergency as “ICE” (meaning In Case of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to
the scenes o f accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients,
but they didn’t know which number to call.

He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a
nationally recognized name for this purpose.

Following a disaster in London , the East Anglican Ambulance Service has
launched a national “In case of Emergency (ICE)” campaign.

In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital
staff
would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply
dialing the number stored as “ICE”.

Please f orward this. It won’t take too many “forwards” before every body
will know about this.

It really could save your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest.

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let’s spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile
phones today!

So who you gonna call? No, Ghostbusters is NOT the answer. :)

Another Website to Ban

February 16, 2007 at 3:31 pm (Rants)

I found a website in my browser’s history (at work) that I found to be quite disturbing. What is most disturbing to me is the casual nature in which this website actually promotes infidelity. After looking into it a little deeper, you can get on this site and set up meetings with other married people and have “discreet” encounters. Discreet? What’s discreet about cheating on your spouse? It’s disgusting if you ask me. The tag line they use is, “When Monogomy Becomes Monotony”. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!?? Here’s a quote directly from their site:

Statistics suggest that the majority of North American and European adults do not maintain permanently monogamous or “closed” relationships. In fact, it is estimated that some 50 – 60% of men and 40 – 50% of women will engage in an extramarital affair or romantic tryst at some point. People have affairs or seek open relationships for many different reasons. Some people want change, novelty, excitement, or risk.

Unfortunately, many find that the initial lure and level of sexual activity with their familiar partner fades as the relationship matures and eventually stabilizes.

Anthropologists have found that there are fundamental physiological changes that take place during the course of a relationship that contribute to the lack of long-term fidelity. Initial hormonal changes that sexually attract one person to another diminish over time and sex may become less exciting, boring or monotonous.

Many choose to recapture this sexual energy and excitement by embarking on an affair or open relationship.

Extra-marital affairs and open spousal relationships offer an opportunity to re-experience the excitement and stimulation associated with dating and courtship.

I’m sorry, but this is just wrong! I pray for anyone who gets to a point in their marriage that they turn to websites like this one to put a little excitement back in their life. Did you notice that it doesn’t say what percentage of these folks end up divorced?

I’m was going to mention the name of this website, but I’ve changed my mind because I don’t want anyone to go there…ever.

Peace

Bowling Report 2/7/07

February 7, 2007 at 10:11 pm (Bowling)

For the benefit of Mr. Pudge, I give you the Bowling Report. In attendance were Kirk, Don, Tom, Bruce and Jill. The first game was a loss for us by a mere 34 pins. However, we came back in the second and third games winning both and totals for the night. So we won 5 of 7 points. A good night, over all.

Personally, I bowled the best that I’ve bowled in quite a while with a 217, 203 and 178 for a 598 series. Considering how I’ve been doing lately, that’s a darn good series.

We had a lot of fun, as usual. Yes, we had fun even without the Pudgemiester. Not as much, mind you, but we did have fun.

Yes, very unlike me to post twice in the same week, let alone in the same hour! But I need to help Aaron and the Mudpuppy spread the word. Please look at Aaron’s Blog and spend some time in prayer for these folks.

Thanks, and God bless.

Good Wine & A Cheap Cigar

February 5, 2007 at 9:39 am (Humor, Whining)

Wow! It’s cold today! Two degrees below zero on my thermometer at 6:30 this morning. My truck complained a lot about starting, as did my wife’s car. And then you get all that creaking and groaning every time you turn the wheel or hit a bump. Brrr…cold! Then I get to work and it’s only 58 degrees in my area. Two hours later it’s all the way up to 61, though, so things are looking up. Now I have to wait for my machine to cool off so I can fix it. Shouldn’t be too bad with as cold as it is back here!

There…that was a good whine. Unfortunately, I don’t smoke any more, so you’re on your own for the cheap cigar.

Peace!

Private Viewing

February 4, 2007 at 1:16 pm (Uncategorized)

Apparently, some of you had trouble getting to my site the last couple days.

I’d like to apologize for any inconvenience. Somehow, I set a preference to “private”. Only approved people could view it, and I was the only one approved. I have since fixed this problem (thank you Raivynn and Vera for letting me know). If you can’t read this, send me an email and I’ll try to fix it again. Yep, think about that one for a while. ;)
