Finally…
It’s been a while since I blogged. I’ve been super busy and simply not had the ambition to write anything. Well, now I have something worth writing about. I got an email forwarded to me today that came from a former coworker. He was in an accident yesterday and somehow survived. He’s not even in the hospital! Look at these pictures he sent…
Now here’s the email he sent. Pay particular attention to the last paragraph. I know I did.
These are the pics from the accident. I am in shock on how I walk away from this accident. Warning there will be a couple possible bloody images from the passenger side off the vehicle. I was wearing my seat belt. The doctors said that I served from an anxiety attack on the way home. I remember not feeling right and having to take a deep breathe and that is all I know … I have had memory lapse (or loss).
I look pretty normal except two blacks (minor), I bite through inside lip where there is nothing but a hole, left shoulder is pretty banged up and can’t move it much, my hands are a mess, I have a huge steering wheel across my forehead, and a lot of contusions on my head, neck, frontal lobe of my head.
I had GOD sitting right there with me the entire time. If I had any doubts about GOD in my life, yesterday and today has been a complete life changing event. Thank you GOD for taking me under your arm to safety. I am a believe from this point on in my life.
I don’t how I am alive today???!!!!????
Unfortunately, sometimes it takes extreme circumstances to make us realize that God is indeed with us…always. This young man has seen that and appears to be turning over control to Him. Praise God!!
Preacher Leads Ram Revival
Yes folks, the Ram has been revived. With a new heart and some new sneakers, he drove the preacher home safely. Exhausted, still fighting with a cold, but safe. Hallelujah!
Thank you, God. Thank you, Tom.
Preacher Stranded With Dead Ram
Okay, this is about friendship. Even though it starts with my dead truck and my buddy.
For those of you who haven’t heard, Pastor Tom took my truck to his brother’s place on Sunday afternoon to get some tires at a very very good price. His brother is about 2 hours north of here. So he gets about 3/4 of the way there and the engine dies. Yes, dead, kaput, finis, toast, rest in pieces. He calls me from the side of the freeway. He’s bummin’ because the truck died while he was driving it. I’m bummin’ because the stupid truck decided to die while he was driving it. So now we have two friends on the phone bummed out because my truck died. After a few attempts, he contacts his brother and finds that his brother has a friend with a tow truck. Maybe save me a little cash? Dunno..we’ll see. Doesn’t matter at this point, the cavalry is coming to save the preacher and haul the dead ram away.
Day two. Tom still stranded. Truck still dead. But a hero has arrived! It’s Tom’s brother and his friends! They have found me a new/used engine and will install it for a very, very good price. So the truck will be home soon with new tires and a running engine.
Here’s where the friendship part comes in. Most folks would have called and said, “Bruce, your truck is dead. I’ll call a wrecker, but you need to come get me.” And they’d leave it at that. But not my brother. Nooo…he goes the extra mile (or 100 miles) for his friend. It’s things like this, the sacrifices, that really make friendships strong, or prove their strength. Ours is as strong as can be. I love you bro!
Now, in addition to that, I’d like to say thank you to Brian for going the extra mile for someone you’ve never met. And to everyone who made this happen, a heartfelt thank you to you as well. God Bless you all.
I would also like to add that I have been blessed with a whole bunch of incredibly close friends and would like to tell them all that I am SO glad to have them in my life. Some of you I’ve laughed with, cried with, played games with and prayed with. Some I’ve never met and some I’ve known for many years. Thank you all for your friendship. God Bless!
Peace
Brad Delp Passes Away
Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, passed away Friday night at the age of 55. This is a sad day for rock and roll. The band’s website now simply reads, “We’ve just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll.” Full story on the Comcast website.
I was always impressed by his voice and the range that he had. I was pretty upset when he left the band after the third album “Third Stage.” But I got over it. His last appearance on a Boston album, however, was on “Corporate America” released in 2002. I didn’t even know it existed.
Another talent taken too soon. Farewell, Brad. Thanks for the music.
An Anniversary
Nope, I wasn’t born on this date. Nope, wasn’t married on this date either. I am celebrating one year without smoking cigarettes today! Yes indeed, it’s been a full year since my doctor said “I need you to quit smoking by next Wednesday before your stress test.” That bothered me enough to make me finally quit for good. Twelve days later I had an angioplasty. So I guess she was right about quitting, huh?
How did I do it? I’m glad you asked! And for 3 easy payments of $39.95 plus $9.95 shipping, I’ll send you my latest DVD CD Video Book Letter…okay, a scrap of paper with my secret written on it. Oh, what the heck…I’ll share it with you now and trust you for the payments. It was easy. I did 2 things. First and foremost, I trusted God and asked for His help and the help of some friends keeping me in prayer. Second, I never said anything like, “I’m trying to quit”, or “I don’t smoke any more” or even “I quit smoking”. It was always simply, “I don’t smoke”. Period. End of story. Of course, I was a one pack a day smoker, so I can’t say that it will be this easy for everyone. But it worked for me and I give God the praise – cuzĀ He deserves it!

Bowling Report 3/7/07
Well, this is rather late, isn’t it? My apologies to all of you who have been anxiously awaiting this weekly wonder of writing. So here ya go…the Bowling Report.
We went bowling. The end.
Bwahahaha…thought that was it, didn’t ya? Too bad for you! There’s more to read.
So it went pretty well last night. We won the first and third games but lost the second. We’re not sure about totals yet because as we were finishing up the computer system went goofy. I hope our scores weren’t lost. For the second straight week, I’ve been somewhat on track with a 194, 190 and 213. Kinda’ late in the season to start getting on track, but better late than never. Dougie bowled fairly well in the second game and had a good third game after a slightly lower than average first game. Over all he did well.
Doug and Kirk started singing and it almost got out of hand. Now Doug is planning to write a parody song to the tune of “You’ve lost that loving feeling” that will be entitled “You’ve lost that Bowling feeling”. It’s a song that Kirk and I started about a year ago and now suddenly Doug wants to cut a record. Sheesh!
Yep, we had a blast. Funny how we manage to have fun pretty much every week, isn’t it?
Peace
Doctor’s Report
Well, yesterday was my annual physical at the Doctor’s office. Always a fun time…or at least since I hit 40.
So first they start the humiliation by putting you on the scale. I thought I was going to tip the scales at 200+ pounds, but I came in at a mere 193. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m 5′7″ tall and up until the end of 2006, never weighed more than 175.
So anywho, the nurse takes my blood pressure and it’s 139/90. Not terrible considering that’s about what it was when I was on BP meds and the fact that I was at the Doc’s office for a physical. Then she pulls out the bottle for the urine sample and I laugh and say, “not a chance”. She just grinned and said, “don’t worry, we’ll get some before you leave”. That was a rather troublesome statement to me.
Then the real fun starts when the Doctor comes in. I won’t go into details because I really don’t want to. Suffice it to say that I chose a female physician for a reason…they have smaller fingers. So overall I’m in pretty good shape. I need to lose 20 pounds or so, watch what I eat and possibly get my stomach scoped for the stomach problems that started all the health issues of last year to begin with. My cholesterol was good, even though the good cholesterol was lower than she’d like to see it. My glucose level was 133, which bothered both of us a little. She told me to lose the weight and eat right and exercise and it should take care of itself. She doesn’t want to medicate me unless she has to.
Then I got to have a breathing test for lung capacity. I have the lung capacity of someone over age 46. Huh? How far over??? 50? 80? 110? The nurse said I did fine, and the Doctor confirmed it, so I’m good with it.
So there you have it, in an expanded nutshell. Except for one thing. I told her about my best friend’s acid reflux situation and she said he should see his doctor. So go see your doctor!! You know who you are!
Peace
Bowling Report 2/28/2007
Okay, here we go again. Let’s see if we can stay on topic this week. What was I talking about? Oh yeah…bowling. Mr. Pudge was absent again, but we got through it anyway, taking 5 of 7 points. We won the first game by 2 pins, won the second game by a hundred and some (thanks to Don’s 243 and Tom’s 245) and lost the third game by 6 pins.
Our cheering section was noticeably diminished this week, too. In other words, it was just us bowlers.
I guess that’s it…I’m out of things to say.
Peace
