Trojan? Virus?
Well, I’m doing battle with my computer now. When I start it up I get the following message:
MSASCui.exe – Bad Image
The Application or DLL C:\Windows\system32\winhttp.dll is not a valid image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Also, when I try to start World of Warcraft, it downloads the new patch, attempts to install it, and then I get another message similar to the one at startup. Then it proceeds to tell me that my base file in WoW is the wrong size and the installation aborts.
I’m about wearing out my hard drive by running scans on it, but I keep finding traces of this and that. I have restored my computer to a time about 2 weeks ago and still nothing. I’ve uninstalled Windows Defender (where msascui.exe comes from) and it solved that particular instance, but as soon as I reinstalled it, it came right back again. I’ve posted to a couple of geek boards, and I’m hoping to get an answer soon. If not, and I can’t figure it out, I’m calling Matt the Geek. My absolute last resort will be to reformat the drive and reinstall everything. Yuk.
*****************************UPDATE***************************
After talking to several people who I consider friends, but have never met (long story), I replaced the winhttp.dll file and rebooted. The problem went away. I still have to reinstall World of Warcraft and Musicmatch Jukebox, but that’s no biggie.
Video by Jacob
My buddy Jacob made this video of last night’s softball game. Good job Jake!!
Little punk shows me watching the pitch go by 3 times! LOL
Softball
Well, the NewSong Softball season is officially underway. We played last night against a very good Britton Bethel Baptist team. They smoked us in the first game, but we got our act together in the second game and beat them. Our offense was good but our defense was very weak in the first game. I had one (yes, just one) ball hit to me in left field and even though I lost it in the sun momentarily, I found it again, caught it and neglected to close my glove around it. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. The second game we did much better defensively and were able to pull off a win. Best part was that we had a really good time. Weather was great, crowd was great, fellowship was great. Can’t wait for next week!
Wake Up
I was jammin’ away on my new mp3 player (see post below this one), listening to Casting Crowns when the following lyrics came through my ear buds and punched me right in the gut.
What if His people prayed
And those who bare His name
Would humbly seek His face
And turn from their own way
Wow, what a wake up call. Start with the second line “And those who bare His name”. What an honor and a privilege to bare His name!! Something to remember…we are HIS. We bare HIS name.
Then the next line, “would humbly seek His face”. Hmmm…not doing enough “humble” lately. Time to look seriously at a little more (okay, a lot more) humility when it comes to Jesus.
Then the last line, “and turn from their own way”. Ouch! That’s the twist at the end of the punch that really stings. Time to do things His way, not mine. Looks like I’ve got some work to do. Anybody else?
New Toy
I finally got myself an mp3 player. It’s the RCA TH1101.
Nothing fancy, only 1GB memory stick style, but it holds a lot of tuneage and I’m liking it.
New Bloggin’ Buddy
Memorial Day Weekend
I finally got around to posting. I haven’t been much into blogging lately, but I was never one to do it on a daily basis. So anyway, I decided to do a little yard work this weekend. Well, it took me the better part of all 3 days to get it all done. And thanks to my son-in-law, it was a LOT easier than it would have been otherwise. Not only was he there to help, but he kept me motivated and provided me with the means to effortlessly pull some old bushes and a place to dispose of them. Thanks Andy. You da man. So back to the story. I’ve been talking about pulling out eight bushes that have been in front of my house since I moved in in 1987. I finally had enough of the stupid things and yanked them this weekend. What a job that was! It started on Saturday with my friend Don coming over to “play” which resulted in a broken rear axle on his Jeep. Fortunately, he’s a really good natured guy who loves to fix things…almost as much as he likes destroying them.
I didn’t think about taking some “before” pictures, but I’ve got some “during” pictures and I’ll have some more after we’ve done all the planting. Here’s the during:
After that, we decided to trim the big pine tree in the back yard so we could gain a little space. A considerably smaller job, but we completely filled the bed of my truck with the branches and had to use plenty of tie-downs to haul them away. I don’t have a before, but here’s the after. We trimmed it up to about 6 or 7 feet off the ground. It really opened up the yard.
And that’s how I spent my weekend. Tuesday I spent 16 hours inside the house painting. Blah! I hate painting!
Peace
Another Urgent Prayer Request
Most of you know my good friend Raivynn, and you know about her best friend Tek. Well, he’s back in the hospital. Let’s all lift him and his family up in prayer again, please!
Praise Report & Prayer Request
Good morning folks! First the praise: God has worked yet another miracle (or two) in my life. Both my new grandchildren are now home! God is good!!
Now the prayer request: My friend Raivynn is in need of some prayer for herself and for her best friend and his family. Please please please go see her blog and keep these good folks in prayer. Maybe they can see a miracle or two for themselves.
Peace
